Advisory
I work with a small number of founders, CEOs, exec teams on an ongoing basis. It lives somewhere between coaching, consulting and fractional.
The simplest way to explain it is that I stay close enough to the business to be useful when the important stuff comes up.
Sometimes that’s strategy, or a tricky people decision, comms, a new product design or maybe there’s a big opportunity on the table and you’re not sure whether to take it, or you just need someone on the outside who knows you and the context well enough to help you think clearly.
We meet regularly, weekly, fortnightly, but the value is not just in the meetings. It’s in having someone you can call when something changes, when a decision gets complicated, or when you need another perspective.
I’ll ask questions, challenge your thinking, bring in new ideas and inspiration, help you make sense of what’s going on, and help you and your team get to a decision.
Sometimes the work stays between the two of us and every now and again it makes sense to get the team in a room. And we bring in someone from the Be Brave network or my wider network who has skills and expertise I don’t have but you need.
I’m not there to run the business for you, that’s you. I’m the guide on the side, the jester in the boardroom asking tricky questions.
Who it’s for
This tends to work best with founders and CEOs who are already carrying a ton. The business is growing, changing, getting more complex, or going through a period where the next few decisions really matter.
You don’t necessarily need to have a specific problem, you just don’t want to face all of it by yourself any longer and need someone in your corner who understands the business but isn’t caught up in the day-to-day fire fighting of it.
How it works
Most advisory relationships run for at least 9 months and then continues as long as is required.
We agree on a regular rhythm of conversations, which could include exco meetings, off sites, retreat, and I stay available for the things that don’t arrive neatly on schedule (they never do).
I only work with a small number of advisory clients at a time.
If you think this could be useful, get in touch and tell me a little about what’s going on.
“Pierre is that intellectual heavyweight in my corner who also deeply understands matters of the heart - a rare find in a sparring partner.”
“I do things differently in my life and in my team because of Pierre.
Think different. Apple said it, Pierre makes you do it.”
“What started as a brief encounter at a talk, initiated a journey that so far has led to a two day off site strategy session, and a nine month Be Brave process with our core management team on three continents. Pierre brings an uncommon insight into the world of business, grasped the peculiarities of our industry quickly and guided us to ask the right questions in order to arrive at key strategic insights. And, Pierre does this all with a sense of humour, warmth and obvious passion for people that is infectious. The journey will continue!”
